Student Success

Mastery, Quality, Character—Our Path to Student Success

At Silverton Public School, our instructional approach centers on educating and nurturing the whole child. We aim for deeper learning, where students are given multiple opportunities to apply their knowledge and skills to solve new problems and develop a thorough understanding of content.

1. Mastery of Knowledge and Skills
Students are expected to demonstrate proficiency and a deeper understanding of key concepts. They should be able to apply their learning, think critically, and communicate effectively.

2. High-Quality Work
We emphasize the creation of high-quality work characterized by complexity, craftsmanship, and authenticity. Our focus on critical thinking and problem-solving supports students in producing exceptional work.

3. Character Development
Through our “Scholarly Habits,” we aim to educate and nurture the whole child. Students work towards becoming effective learners, ethical individuals, and responsible contributors to their communities.

Our teachers ensure students understand the purpose and outcomes of various assessments, helping them see the direct connection between learning goals and evaluations.

We believe in fostering student success through a holistic approach that emphasizes mastery, high-quality work, and character development, preparing students to excel academically and contribute to their communities.

Communicating Student Achievement

At Silverton School, we communicate student achievement through both traditional methods and innovative approaches that empower students to take charge of their learning. In addition to report cards, students are encouraged to articulate their learning experiences, strengths, struggles, goals, and preparation for college and career success. We believe that involving parents is essential to this process.

Here are some key ways we facilitate collaboration between students and families:

  • Student-Led Conferences: These conferences provide a platform for students to showcase their work and discuss their progress with parents.

  • GOAL Week: A dedicated week where students set and share their academic and personal goals with their families.

  • Student Presentations: Students present their projects and achievements to parents, fostering a deeper understanding of their learning journey.

  • Gallery Night: An event where students display their work, allowing parents to engage with their accomplishments and celebrate their creativity.

Together, we strive to create an environment where students feel empowered and supported in their educational journey.
