Who We Are

Small School, Big Impact

As one of the smallest and most rural school districts in Colorado, the Silverton School District serves all of San Juan County. Our K-12 public school, housed in a historic three-story brick building, is the only educational facility of its kind in the county. Silverton School is unique, offering personalized paths to social, emotional, physical, and academic success. Our close-knit community, small class sizes, and commitment to experiential learning empower students to thrive. We believe in educating the whole child, emphasizing character, high-quality work, and a sense of responsibility. Through diverse programs and strong community partnerships, we foster a vibrant, inclusive environment where every student is inspired to achieve more than they ever thought possible.

We believe in nurturing potential and celebrating diversity to inspire lifelong learning and growth.

We encourage critical thinking, problem-solving, decision-making, intellectual curiosity, and artistic expression as foundations for lifelong learning.

Our staff is dedicated to meeting students where they are on their learning journey to help them thrive.

Land Acknowledgement

The people of Silverton honor the land and the Wíinúuchi band of Utes who saw it as their home and kept it healthy for future generations. We acknowledge that the Brunot Agreement unfairly stole the Utes’ land, after all Ute bands were moved to the western portion of the state. As we live, work,

play, and learn on this land we will remember and continue their legacy of stewardship. Developed and written by Silverton HIgh School Students in October 2021 and adopted by Silverton School

Board in November 2021.
